Europa Nostra – the Voice of Cultural Heritage in Europe, SENSE – Centre for Transitional Justice, and Documenta – Centre for Dealing with the Past would like to invite you to the opening of the exhibition Targeting Monuments – Targeting History and Memory, which will take place on April 4 at 7:00 PM at the Atrium of the City Hall (Block C, Spui 70, The Hague).
The opening speeches will be given by Sneška Quaedvlieg-Mihailović, Europa Nostra’s Secretary General, Branka Benčić, the curator of the exhibition Targeting Monuments, and Mirko Klarin, the director of SENSE – Centre for Transitional Justice and the author of the interactive narrative Targeting History and Memory.
Judge Carmel Agius, the last President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) will open the exhibition.
The exhibition will be open until April 16, 2018.
The basis for the exhibition is the interactive narrative Targeting History and Memory (http://www.heritage.sense-agency.com), which shows the way in which crimes against cultural, historical, and religious heritage that were committed during the wars in the former Yugoslavia were investigated, reconstructed, and processed at the ICTY in The Hague.
In the framework of the exhibition, a complementary screening of a poetic-documentary film Monument (2015) by the contemporary visual and film artist Igor Grubić is organised at Filmhuis Den Haag (Spui 191).
