Teaching about the Holocaust and other genocides is an important step towards a critical consideration of the question of social and individual responsibility for an organized mass crime. It is especially important in the context of contemporary anti-Semitism and exclusiveness towards other national minorities, which new communication channels have permitted to reach the public and leave an impression. Relativization or even full-blown denial of the Holocaust in the virtual public space, as well as violent activities by radicalized individuals and groups only serve to highlight the importance of learning about the Holocaust, as well as critically dealing with the past.
