We mourn for Borivoj Dovniković Bordo, an artist, a giant of animation, caricature and graphic design, grateful for the interview we recently recorded with him, and wich we are preparing for publication. In it, he talks about his childhood in a Serbian family in Osijek and his escape from the Independent State of Croatia, as well as about his creative life in which he won numerous awards. In his closing remarks, he said, “People don’t live off nationalism, from belonging to a nation, because it’s awful that you have to be a patriot to achieve anything.”  His uncle Milenko, a notary in the Čepin municipality, was arrested and taken in 1941, first to the Sokolski dom, and later to the Ustasha death camp Jadovno, from where he never returned.
