Workshop concerning rights of victims of criminal acts – Vukovar, July 10, 11, 2017
Within the project “Rights, Support, Protection and Compensation to Victims of Criminal Offenses” which is conducted by Association for support to victims and witnesses and other CSOs: Documenta – Centre for dealing with the past (Zagreb), Centre for peace, nonviolence and human rights (Osijek) and White circle of Croatia (Split), financed by the European Commission and co-financed by Croatian Government Office for cooperation with NGOs, and in cooperation with Judicial Academy and the Office of the Ombudswoman of the Republic of Croatia, a workshop was held in Vukovar on July 10 and 11, 2017. The workshop space in Vukovar was made possible by the Eltz/Vukovar Museum and we thank them warmly!
At the workshop in Vukovar, the lecturers were Ana Šeničnjak (Association for support to victims and witnesses), Monika Čavlović (Office of the Ombudswoman of the Republic of Croatia), Nikica Hamer Vidmar (Ministry of Justice, Victim and witness support service), Nives Jozić (Documenta – centre for dealing with the past), Suzana Čučković (Vukovar County State Attorney’s Office) and Goran Miličević (Vukovar County Court). The workshop was attended by representatives of magistrates, municipal and county courts, police officers, representatives of the municipal and county state attorney’s office, representatives of the Department for victim assistance and witness support, as well as representative of the Regional Office of the Ombudswoman of the Republic of Croatia in Osijek.
The participants were given the opportunity to get acquainted with the novelties of the Proposal for Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act, Directive 2012/29 / EU, court practice and hear more about prejudices, stereotypes, discrimination and the consequences of criminal offenses that affect victims, witnesses and their family members.
