We kindly invite you to Panel Discussion with title “Between Memory and Oblivion” – 1st part to be held on-line on Tuesday May 31th from 14:30 – 16:00.

In the introduction, the speakers will present the situation of Jasenovac Memorial and the need to strengthen the only institution in Croatia which systematically processes the Legacy of WWII. After that, the biography of Bruno Prister, surviving inmate of several concentration camps in period of Holocaust, will be presented.

Speakers will be:

Ivo Pejaković – Director of the Jasenovac Memorial

Aneta Vladimirov – Serb National Council and member of Jasenovac memorial area

Thomas Porena – researcher,  Topografia per la storia

Discussion will be moderated by Vesna Teršelič, Director of Documenta – Center for Dealing with the Past.

The panel is part of the project “Between memory and oblivion: WWII places of memory”, developed by Documenta and European partners: MMH Dachau and the University of Regensburg (Germany), Associazione 4704 and Topografia per la storia (Italy), APIS Institute and Social Academy Slovenia), to stimulate debate on World War II memorial sites (former concentration camps, forced labor camps, execution sites, prisons, resistance …) and to confront abandonment of these places, as well as fofgeting stories of victims and survivors, which we often face.
