Documentary Series “Documenta Memoriae”
Historical interpretation of crimes which marked the 20th century, as well as sites of memory and commemorations related to them, have often been subject to political manipulations and have served as an excuse for new cycles of violence. For this reason, we have been organizing a series of educational study visits, in Croatia and the neighbouring countries, to sites marking traumatic events from the 1941 – 1999 period.
In this way, we want to make a modest contribution to the acknowledgement of suffering of all victims by enlarging the group of individuals who are well informed and interested in a public debate on the appropriate ways of commemorating different sites of past violence.
We have also recorded short video documentaries about all of the organized study visits under the title Documenta Memoriae. On our YouTube channel or video section on this web site, you can watch four documentaries concerning the study visits to sites of memory on Goli otok, Kampor (the island of Rab), Jadovno and Zagreb.
The project has been implemented with the support of Robert Bosch Stiftung, and the documentaries produced by Documenta. Director: Dijana Mlađenović, camera: Ana Opalić, editing: Noa Pintarić
