Ankica Lepej, a former employee of Zagrebačka banka, became the heroine of open Croatia in the grey Croatian democracy when she revealed to the public in 1998 that then-president Franjo Tuđman did not report 210,000 Deutsche Marks and 15,740 US dollars on his wife’s property card.
